Rod pumping Dynamometer Testing

  • Measure Pumping System Loads

  • Confirm Loads are within Permissible to Avoid Failure

  • Rod Loading

  • Gear Box Torque

  • Structure Loading and Unit Balance

  • Test Traveling and standing Valves Condition

  • Analyze System Performance and Efficiency

  • Redesign System for Maximum Production and Optimum Operation

Example Dynamometer Test

NORMAL OPERATION

Depending on pump and rod sizes, normal well effluent will come from the bleeder valve when it is opened. With a pump plunger larger in diameter than the polished rod, the maximum flow will be on the upstroke. With a pump plunger smaller in diameter than the polished rod, the maximum flow will be on the downstroke. The load on the unit should be equal on the upstroke and the downstroke, with little polished rod vibration.
